On 27th July, 1917, the 1st Royal Scots Fusiliers battalion of 8 Brigade, 3rd Division moved into the front line at Louverval, a few miles to the east of Bapaume in France, where they remained until relieved on 3rd August. The battalion diary entry for 1st August recorded that it was a very quiet day except that three men were killed by a shell. Hugh Watson was one of those killed. |
